Eligibility
Adults 18+ years of age in need of a high school diploma equivalent.
About the Program
We offer classes that help you prepare to take the GED® or HiSET®. The classes focus on math, reading, and/or writing, and are taught by a PA certified teacher with the help of tutors/classroom aides.
Classes
Summer Sessions Dates:
Online Classes – Mondays and Wednesdays 9:00-11:00 AM – 7/7/2025 – 8/27/2025
In-person Classes – Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-9:00 PM – 7/8/2025 – 8/28/2025
Information Sessions
Information for both classes - in person and online – will be conducted online on Teams on the following dates:
Tuesday, June 24, 2025 – 5:30 PM
Wednesday, June 25, 2025 – 10:00 AM

Deadlines for Registration
The deadline for online class enrollment is June 27, 2025.
In-person classes are open enrollment.
Cost
There are no charges for classes, HiSET textbook or one-on-one tutoring (depending on availability of volunteers). Additionally, once you attend 12 class hours, you will receive a free test prep book and calculator!

Testing
Governor Shapiro recently established funding for free testing. Currently, the state is paying for each student's first attempt of the exam. We offer the paper-based testing of HiSET® (GED equivalent) here at The Open Link. After your first attempt, each section costs $25. (5 sections – total of $125).
