Foxwynd Foundation Awards The Open Link $25,000 for Expanded Food Pantry Access

PENNSBURG, PA - The Open Link, a multi-service agency serving the Upper Perkiomen Valley, has been awarded a $25,000 grant by the Foxwynd Foundation to expand food pantry access in the Valley. Through this grant, The Open Link will provide nutritious food more often to households in need, particularly to seniors and families.

Most notably, the grant will help expand The Open Link’s innovative mobile food delivery program in partnership with DoorDash’s Project DASH initiative, which subsidizes delivery of food and other essential items to the organization’s homebound clients. Within the Valley’s rural community, which does not have public transportation, this program removes barriers and increases dignity through convenient, local delivery. Marianne Lynch, Executive Director, notes, “With this generous grant from the Foxwynd Foundation, The Open Link will be able to expand access to fresh, nutritious food to those who are homebound due to health issues, unreliable transportation or no transportation at all, or are unable to drive. In a community where lack of transportation can create such a barrier to food access, the Foxwynd Foundation saw the value in our partnership with DoorDash and chose to invest in it, as well as our ability to expand our operation to meet growing need. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and support.”

In addition to the expansion of mobile delivery, the grant enables The Open Link to purchase additional food and food supplies to ensure that all Valley members in need have enough to eat, regardless of changes in federal and state benefits. Increased volunteer recruitment and training, hiring a seasonal Pantry employee, and increased outreach to Valley community members are also planned as part of the grant. “We are proud to support The Open Link in expanding access to nutritious food for seniors, families, and homebound community members. This grant aligns with the Foxwynd Foundation’s mission to remove barriers and empower communities, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” stated Pamela Villagra, Executive Director of the Foxwynd Foundation.

The Open Link expresses immense gratitude to the Foxwynd Foundation for investing in mission and work within the Valley. The Foxwynd Foundation DAF funded the Foxwynd Foundation’s generous donation to The Open Link.
